Marcus Aurelio, known worldwide as Marcus "Maximus" Aurelio, was born and raised in Brazil. His lifelong journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu began over four decades ago. From an early age, Marcus showed a deep passion for the art — not just as a sport, but as a way of life that builds discipline, respect, and mental strength.
Guided by Master Francisco Sá, a direct student of the legendary Takeo Yano, Marcus became a second-generation successor of Yano's lineage and part of the first generation of black belts under the SAS Team (Equipe SAS) — one of the most respected Jiu-Jitsu families in Brazil.
In 2013, Marcus founded the Marcus Aurelio Jiu-Jitsu Academy in North Miami Beach, bringing authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the local community. His teaching philosophy is simple but powerful.
